Crystal C. Yan (严晨) is a social entrepreneur and designer in the San Francisco Bay Area/Greater Boston Area. She is the cofounder of the Social Startup Summit, a conference that helped students from 9 high schools to start 4 new service projects and is the coproducer of What’s Next: 25 Big Ideas from Gen-Yers Under 25, a collaborative book project on the power of youth featuring youth contributors from Seattle to Sierra Leone. She has designed for medical school research reports, the largest student business organization in the world, an international non-profit for women and girls, an award-winning robotics team, and many more. Crystal also sat on a board that led 6000 students to raise $160,000+ for water filters and consulted to help a non-profit expand its 50 centers throughout the Bay Area. She has spoken at various conferences at Duke University, Stanford University, the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, and more. Crystal has also blogged for USA Today and Ashoka, and has been honored by Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Barbara Boxer, Congressman Mike Honda, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for her public service efforts.
